Heard a Great Horned Owl behind my house tonight off Beluga Ct. (Off Mattox) around 5:30 PM ... Not sure how to notify for count week tally.

just wanted to report a N. Shrike in my yard today off Mattox. It was eating a dead bird. I have no idea if it killed it or not, but was on the ground with it. I'm not sure how common they are, but it's the first one I've seen in my yard, and I've seen in Homer, so very exciting, especially since I ...

Sandpipers on the Spit today (Thursday 15 DEC)

I think Rock Sandpipers... hundreds on the flats on the left side of the spit as you go out.

Hopefully they will be around for the count!

Grey-crowned Rosy-Finches

There was a huge flock of Grey-crowned Rosy-Finches at the fishing hole on the spit today (Tuesday). Has anyone seen the Short-eared Owls? I had a small wren in my yard around 5 days ago. I will see if I can find it again.

Just got back from a short walk on the spit and saw 2 Short Eared Owls and Snow Buntings on the bay side, just past the first house. The owls were flying over the flats out there and the buntings were near the walking path, in the grass. There was also a very dark sparrow (I think). Anyone know what...
