Jaegers, Harrier and PG Plovers

While out at the Jaeger bog watching the Parasitic Jaegers (2) we spotted a pair of Pacific Golden Plovers and a beautiful male Northern Harrier. It was too windy for the warblers and sparrows to come out but we did hear some.

Caspian Tern

I'm not good at gull or tern identification, but I'm thinking this is a Caspian? Spotted it yesterday on the spit.

Good morning

What a great start to the day, my resident Song Sparrow was singing loud enough for me to hear it from inside the house, then about 20 minutes later I looked out the window to see a Townsend's Solitiare looking in at me. Have seen the TOSO in the neighborhood but sightings have been few and far betw...

Townsends Again

Just spotted the Townsend's Solitaire on Hohe again, on utility wires near my house on upper Hohe. It went down the street to the house with the biggest spruce next to the road. It seems to hang out between the apt. building and the back of that house.

Redpolls

From my driveway on the top of Hohe I saw a large flock (100 at least) of light colored birds above the hospital, flying back and forth (somewhat in sync) among the scrubs. Too far to see for sure but my best guess would be Redpolls. They headed toward Hornaday playground. Also, there were some beau...

Lincoln's Sparrow question

While looking out a friends window in the Bear Cr. area we spotted this sparrow, easily identifying it as a Lincoln's. Do they over-winter here? I see them in the summer but don't believe I've seen one in the winter before.

Re: Townsend's Solitaire

He came to the yard, but perched on the highest Mtn Ash branch. If he acts the same as the TOSO last year he'll stick around the area. I love to hear them, they sing in the softest voice.

Townsend's Solitaire

Spotted a Townsend's Solitaire near the hospital. It was near a large (70-80) group of Robins, I'm not sure if it was following with them or if they just landed in the same area. The Robins have been hitting my Mt. Ash tree along with five Varied Thrushes, hoping the Solitaire comes to the yard.

Sharp-shinned and V. Thrush

Walking up to my house today I heard a 'thud' up on the deck, as I looked over the fence all I could see were feathers floating in the air. I was afraid my dog might have got a bird but when I opened the gate a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew up into the tree. I appreciated the close-up view (8 ft away) of ...
