Michael Craig’s report from the Kachemak Bay Birders’ trip to Eveline Park on the 20th...
A new record was set on this field trip: we had more birders than we had species of birds. It was simply too early. The snow was gone (barely), but it was still very brown. The weather was lovely, with only a minor threat of showers at the end of our walk. Observed species included Fox, White-crowned, and Song Sparrows, Gray Jays, Common Redpolls, American Robins and unidentifiable species of Swallows flying high above the meadow. Still, all 8 of us seemed to enjoy the walk.
Later, Michael sent a PS for a forgotten Wilson’s Snipe to be added to the list, so that changed things!! An even number of birders and bird species!!
