From Lani Raymond:
Today the Anchor River again lived up to its reputation as THE #1 Hot Spot for birding!! In spite of people, traffic and all the boats being launched, we found 37 species, 13 of them shorebirds.
Besides the fantastic shorebird array, we found some very nice warblers and experienced some drama when the falcon swooped down into a group of shorebirds to snatch his lunch (or maybe late breakfast).
A huge thank you to our leader, Michelle Michaud, for knowing just how to sequence our time for the high tide, the estuary, and then back along the beach after the rocks were exposed to get even more shorebirds. It was a lovely day: warm weather, sunshine and no wind.
Again, we Kachemak Bay Birders reaffirmed our famous motto: It Was A great Day To Bird!
