I was working on my boat in the harbor this evening around 6:00 pm. I was on the floats nearest the giant circle hook. It was a very quiet evening and I heard what sounded like a distant bird flock. It turned out the sound was carrying over from the roosting ROCK SANDPIPER flock near the launch ramp. I went over there and videoed the whole flock and it's chattering. I was not aware that they made so much noise(?).
I also took seven still shots panning the flock. I blew up one of the middle shots and counted birds, there were 606 in that shot. Bird density was less in the left side of the flock and more dense in the right side of the flock. So I estimate the flock is minimum 3000 birds.
Here is a link to the video and you will need to turn up the volume.
