A few adventurous, hardy Kachemak Bay Birders spent 2.5 hours birding the Spit at mid-day. The weather wasn't too bad, just a little choppy on the east side. Jim Herbert was the leader.
The following species were seen:
Horned Grebe
Pelagic Cormorant
Mallard
Long-tailed Duck
Black Scoter
Common Goldeneye
Greater Scaup
Common Merganser
Mew Gull
Glaucous-winged Gull
Rock Sandpiper (1900)
Dunlin (45)
Bald Eagle
Rock Dove
Common Raven
NW Crow
Black-billed Magpie
Common Redpoll (135)
Song Sparrow
Grey-crowned Rosy Finch (75)
If I get some photos, I'll post them on the website, (she hinted...) It was, of course, A Great Day to Bird!!
Birds on the Spit: 2-2-19
