This afternoon while doing a COASST survey of Mud Bay Beach, Jim Herbert and team spotted ~250-300 ROCK SANDPIPERS that flew in to Mud Bay. Later they found 28 in back of the Hockey Rink but did not have time to track down the rest.

A probable sighting of them occurred yesterday from Coal Bay Beach (25th).

George West's list of average earliest arrival times lists Sept. 21st! Has anyone seen any before this?

I saw a small flock (less than 30) fly around the end of the harbor entrance on Oct. 19th. I wasn't positive they were Rock Sandpipers and did not have time to re-find them. This morning I noticed about 30 sitting in the usual spot inside the harbor near the boat ramp, around 10:30 am.
